Harmon's Ragdoll Cats and Ragdoll Kittens of Central Florida

About Harmon's Ragdoll Cats & Kittens:
We have been breeding Ragdoll cats and kittens in Central Florida since 1999. I am an animal lover and have had cats (and dogs) my entire life. Cats bring so much love and entertainment to a home. But after my children were scratched frequently by a cat we dearly loved, I decided to research the different personality traits among cat breeds. I had always admired the elegant beauty and charm of some of the long-hair cat breeds, but not the maintenance. After spending many hours researching through books and the internet and long conversations with breeders and cat lovers, we found Ragdoll cats to be the perfect breed for us.

We love having kittens around the house. We have kept our cattery small so our cats are never caged. They are socialized and raised with kids, dogs and lots of love. Although we are located in Central Florida, we will ship kittens under safe circumstances.

About the Ragdoll Cat Breed:
Ragdolls cats are known for their sweet temperaments and their beautiful blue eyes. They are intelligent, playful, sweet and attentive, without being too demanding. You might have heard it said, that Ragdoll cats are the most 'dog like' of all the cat breeds. They have some of the best traits of both the dog and cat world. They have medium-long (rabbit-like) hair that is so silky and soft, it rarely mats and requires little or no maintenance.

Ragdolls do not seem to have the same fear or survival instincts of other cat breeds. They were meant to be strictly indoor, pampered companions.

History of Ragdoll Cats:
The Ragdoll breed was began by Ann Baker, a Persian cat breeder from California, during the 1960s. It is believed she started by selecting kittens from a long-haired white female Angora/Persian type named Josephine.

By carefully selecting kittens with the temperament and look she desired Ann Baker created the foundations of the Ragdoll breed. However the breed came to worldwide recognition, by various cat registrations through the efforts of Denny and Laura Dayton, after purchasing a breeding pair from Ann Baker. Due to the unique charms, sweet dispositions and beauty of Ragdoll cats, the popularity of the breed has grown ever since.
